Empowering Leaders to Build Inclusive and Compassionate Cultures with ICL Training

For the past few months, we've been thrilled to deliver our ‘Inclusive and Compassionate Leadership’ (ICL) workshops to senior leaders and managers within the NHS and higher education institutions. This workshop equips staff with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to foster Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in their organisations.

What does the Inclusive and Compassionate Leadership (ICL) training involve?

ICL is a 3-hour workshop aimed at leaders and managers focusing on anti-discriminatory practice and the importance of creating safe spaces for critical reflection, learning and action. The workshop aims to equip staff with the knowledge, skills, and mindset required to become inclusive and compassionate leaders.

Why ICL Training Matters

  • Senior leaders play a crucial role in driving EDI. Many, however, express a lack of access to essential training and support.

  • Building inclusive systems is key. This can only be achieved by creating safe spaces for discussion and offering appropriate training opportunities.

  • EDI cannot be achieved through ‘add-on’ solutions. To create a truly inclusive, accessible environment where diversity is celebrated, EDI needs to be integrated into processes and systems from the outset.

What are the Benefits of ICL Training for participants?

  • Increased confidence: ICL training equips leaders with the "what to say, how to say it, and how to know if it’s working" needed to navigate EDI challenges effectively.

  • Reduced fear: With confidence comes the ability to tackle issues without anxiety about saying or doing the wrong thing.

  • Challenging discriminatory behaviour: ICL training empowers leaders to speak up and act against discrimination, knowing that silence is being complicit with the problems.

  • Awareness of institutional issues: Leaders and managers gain a deeper understanding of their organisation's specific EDI challenges through data and case studies.

  • Beyond just awareness: ICL training provides practical tools and strategies. Equipped with this knowledge, leaders and managers can confidently take action, driving their organisations forward towards achieving an inclusive environment.

What do our Participants say about ICL Training?

‘Really good to spend time with senior colleagues - more opportunities like this please.’
‘Good to do this sort of workshop, should repeat through the business.’
‘It was very helpful, learnt a lot and really made me think about / challenge myself in terms of my leadership being inclusive and compassionate.’
